SPEECH BY THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL AT CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS EREMONY AT NSAMBYA TRAINING SCHOOL ON 27TH OCTOBER 2022 - St. Francis Hospital Nsambya Training School

As the coordinator of Bachelors of Nursing and Midwifery Science (BNS/BMS) and Clinical Mentoring programs, I am privileged to be part of the education setting today. One hundred (100) Years ago, in 1921; Mother Kevin Kearney was guided by God to pursue her dream of starting a health care training school with a vision of increasing Hospital staff, 100 Years later, her vision has been carried on for generations with advancements to catch up with the country’s development. It is thus our task now to carry on her dreams, visions and ambitions in this modern age that is driven by science and technology to not only excel on national level but to also stand out globally.

Our Vision is to take the Institution Global and have our students compete in the international job markets. Competing internationally requires us to level up, increase our brand equity, visibility and status. The good news is that our journey to achieving University Status is already underway! We hope to achieve a lot with extensive research. Empowering students with quality education in a wider horizon is the mission we embrace at Uganda Martyrs University-Nsambya Campus. As we Celebrate 100 Years of existence, we have advanced

from only offering certificates and diplomas to Bachelor’s Degrees. We are offering Bachelor of Nursing Science, Bachelor of Midwifery Science and soon Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology Science. This is an achievement we are highly proud of; for it is a stepping

for us to become a University with undergraduate programsr graduate programs and a wide range of research programs.

As the Bible says in Proverbs 24: 3 – 4; “Through Wisdom a House is Built, by Understanding it is established and by Knowledge it is filled with all the pleasant richest Let us pray to God for Wisdom and Understanding as we make effort to gain more Knowledge through studying, reading, researching and having the zeal to know more. As such I call onto all the Alumni to never settle with the achievements made but to always seek more. Climb ‘through the career path from Certificate to PhD while having the sky as the only limit learning and the quest for Knowledge never ends! 100 years as the voice of nursing, and midwifery. Congratulations

Namukasa Jane Frances
